In practice, professionals apply 3 options:

chemical and thermal processing for animal feed: it is involved after biological verification of incoming waste for pathogenic microbes (in products coming from warehouses, sometimes you can find vectors of salmonellosis and other diseases);

solid masses (cheeses, etc.) are usually pressed under controlled conditions to obtain a material with a maximum density, after which it is placed on a closed landfill — until natural decomposition;

complete burning upon detection of vectors and signs of truly harmful diseases (for example, leukemia).

In any case, the first step is to remove the packaging materials. Polymers and multilayer packaging (with layers of metallized film) are not the most environmentally friendly materials, they are sent for a separate recycling cycle.
